Admission Criteria

Pathways Adolescent Center is licensed and evaluated by the Department of Public Welfare of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The Residential Program is available to all contracted agencies.

We will accept referrals from the following organizations and agencies:

  1. Juvenile Probation Departments; and
  2. County Child and Youth Agencies.

At-risk male and female children between the ages of 9 and 21 will be accepted into the Residential Program.  Client referrals deemed appropriate for a group home setting will be accepted.

Inappropriate referrals include youth that meet the following criteria:

  • Severe mental impairment;
  • Chemically dependent children in need of detoxification;
  • Diagnosed psychotic children;
  • Extraordinary physical impairment;
  • Children with a medical diagnosis which Pathways could not meet the medical needs of;
  • Failure to pass the initial interview prior to the placement;
  • Sex offenders who are deemed a risk to the other youth in the care of Pathways Adolescent Center;
  • Youth whose mental or physical disabilities would prevent him/her from participating in the Pathways Adolescent Center Program;
  • Pregnant females.

Transitional Living Referrals:

  • At-risk children between the ages of 16 and 21;
  • Youth will spend a minimum of thirty (30) days in Pathways Residential Program prior to acceptance into the Transitional Living Program
